Plans For Dinner And Dance For School Alumni At The End Of The Year
Mrs. Menon, as the school year is coming to an end, the School Alumni and I, have suggested a series of ideas for the upcoming Dinner and Dance. It has been a long time since the last gathering of our school’s Alumni members. It will be a meaningful and joyous event for all to come back and rekindle old friendships. I sincerely extend our invitation to invite you and the school staff members to attend this occasion with us. We have collated all our suggestions of possible themes for that night and we have all agreed on “Masquerade” theme. However, we would like to seek your opinion.
What is the theme ‘Masquerade’? Basically, guests come for the dinner wearing a mask. Masked guests are dressed so as not to be identified. This would serve as a fun and exciting way to mingle around which would be suitable for the objective of the dinner and dance, to provide opportunities for past pupils to gather and network. Furthermore, the alumni members have not met for a long period of time and it would be pretty awkward for all to sit together looking at each other face-to-face and therefore, the mask serve its purpose. Comparing the other two possible themes, the ‘Retro Disco’ theme would not be pleasant for the older school staff members as they make up the majority of our audience that night as it involves loud thumping music. Whereas, the ‘Hollywood Night’ theme would be too dull for such a meaningful event as its main attraction would only be its red carpet.
We have also gathered our suggestions for the possible activities and short-listed a few. Firstly, we have put in an auction to bid on items which the school staff or the alumni members could donate and then bring them back as souvenirs. This also serves the objective of raising funds for needy pupils of our school. Secondly, guests can start dancing in the ballroom after dinner which would last for one hour. This will give the opportunity for guests to showcase their dancing talents. Lastly, we would end-off with a ‘best-dressed hunk and babe’ award presentation for the best-dressed male and female for the night.
We have come out with a programme and would like to seek your opinion. The guests would be seated in the ball room by 7.30pm as the principal and distinguished guests would each give their opening speeches. Dinner would then start at 7.45pm together with the auction and will end before 8.45pm. Ball dancing would then commence at 9pm and eventually end with prize presentation at 10.00pm. Also, we have decided to host this event at the Hard Rock Hotel and each attending guest is required to pay a sum of $20 per person.
To end off, the organizing committee of the school alumni looks forward to your suggestions and the presence of you and your staff as this event would serve as a way for the school alumni of thanking all of you for bringing our school to greater heights all these years.
